I moved to Orlando, with my 81yr old mom and my handicap adult sister because here would be much better for them. I took on an apartment I would like to know if there is any way I can get help to pay the rent and bills..

I am sorry your husband has cancer and is hospice. My mom had lung cancer and she eneded up in hospice too. Today is the 14th anniversary of her passing. Hospice does give good care but I know what it feels like. Have you called 211 to see if you can get any temporary assistance for you or your kids? I don't know the ages of your children.

 I am single mother with 2 sons I have supported my family  alone for the past  10 yeras and never missed a rent payment I have also never been late on rent. I  planned to switched jobs July7th and my new employer  delayed my start after I had given my notice to my other employer. With that said they kept delaying start so I have just gotten one week of unemployment since leaving my  old job at June 25th. I apply for other jobs and  hopefully have the other one to start at end iof August  but we are also facing eveiction. my son had to switch schools in his Sr year  because I can't get him to  his other school. Facing eviction we really need help woth  our rent. I have managed to scrap by and  keep the other bills current But I have no one to help me now. I could use help with my rent too.  My husband and I have two young children (4.5 and 3 yrs) and are both students at a local university and because of the way classes are scheduled for his program, he'd lose out on 32 working hours/pay period.  We're still trying to catch up; I just got hired for a part time position at a local grocery store, however, I won't receive my first check for awhile and I only will be working 16 hours a week on the weekends (to eliminate the need for daycare).  I need 250 dollars to pay what is still owed on my bill for July's rent, but my checking account is overdrawn by 125 dollars, so if anyone could possibly help me with 400 dollars to pay the rent, overdraft and put gas in my car so that we can get to work, my family and I would greatly appreciate it.  I have to have the money to my landlord by days end on the 13th or we'll get filed in court for eviction.

Honey, Unfortuneatly, it doesn't change as you get older.  I am 31 with a small child and am looking into subsidized housing which could take months to get in.  I may be living on the streets before that ever happens.  Just hang in there and remember, your child is young and won't remember how bad your stuggling.  Just cause you can't sleep at night for worrying, they are fast asleep because all their needs are met and that makes you a good ma.

I just caught your picture and saw that you're not far from me, so I thought i'd say hello.

I'm about 40 minutes north of you, and am also an artist.  I was married at 19, and quit college after 3 semesters because my parents and hubby who promised to help with tuition after I married didn't help, and I didn't make enough money for it once I had kids, anyway, so I still would love a degree, but I haven't figured out how I'll do that yet.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble now.  It's hard to believe that someone with a BA would have difficulty finding a job, yet I know how true it is that all over the country, people with your level of education and even higher are having so much trouble securing employment of any kind, let alone careers doing something which they actually enjoy and had looked forward to doing when they decided to pay for a college education and invest all that time and money in it!

I don't know much about what the system in Mecklenberg County has to offer with regard to assistance, although I am aware of the fact that unless you're a parent, it's extremely difficult to find assistance of any sort!  I don't envy you the position you're in, to be sure.

I will say this, though -- aidpage is a good place to be in your situation, because there are a lot of people who genuinely care about other human beings, and are willing to offer encouragement and whatever information they're able to find to point you in the right direction for whatever assistance is available to you.  I wish that I could be of more assistance to you at this point, but just off the top of my head, I don't know anything about Charlotte's systems.

I hope to be able to help you in a more tangible way at some point in the near future.  I know that's small consolation right now, but I will also be praying for you that your situation will improve -- that you'll be able to secure employment, and that you won't lose your home, or go through any suffering that does not bring lasting benefit to you in the end.  I'll be praying for you to have courage, wisdom and discernment, as well, in finding the things which will be helpful to you.

Right now, though, I need to close this, and take care of things here at home and get ready for my mom coming for dinner tomorrow.  Which brings me to one final question -- do you have any family in the area, or someone who can wire money to help you temporarily, until you're better able to help yourself?  Just curious.

Hope you have a great weekend, and that you're able to set aside worrying about those things which you're unable to change for the time being.  I know it's difficult, but there's no sense in wasting our energy on things we can't do anything about.

Hello, I'm located in Charlotte NC and I am currently unemployed. Im working very hard to find a job but am either considered over qualified or under qualified. I am barely paying my bills but recently this month I am just unable to pay my rent my checking account is in the negative and my savings is totally depleted I really dont know what to do. Well here I am sitting here and feeling so lost. Life took a bad turn for us almost 2 weeks ago now. I just found out I am pregnant and it is a very high risk pregnancy. And there are more life issues. I now have until Thursday night or 7am friday morning to fina a place to live. I have no friends or family here at all. I have no car and no job. I am waiting a decision from SSI that i should have in the next couple weeks. I have a small amount of money but not nearly enough for rent anywhere. This is the 4th time in 3 years my world fell down around me and I am at my wits end. I am looking to see if there is anyone here that may know of any kind of help i could get with getting a place to live. I called 211 and all the shelters and there was no luck there. I am on the housing waiting list for section 8 and there are no other agencies out there that i am aware of. any help would be greatly appriciated, thank you for your time =)

Awwww Im so sorry to hear that!! I in a situation similar to yours.  I just dont understand where the help is when we need it most!!

You have a very good outlook on life and Our God. He will always be there for you, it may not be exactly what you want, but I promise you he will be. Sometimes things happen to make you sit and think too about what your life is all about and how you can make postive changes. One time I had a very bad situation and lost my house and my car which was paid for. I had to sell it to pay for medication or I was going to die. I end up moving into a govt. apt which I hated, but had no choice. You may have to do the same if you don't get your extention. I also had family memebers who didn't seem to care if I lived or died, to bad.. cause there is a thing called karma, and most of them are getting theirs now. I hate it for them, but I didn't casue it and now they are on the same street I was on years ago. Hard times can make you inspect your life and your spiritual life as well, be open minded and dedicated and lots of prayers ! If you can be still and listen then you will find the answers for a better life.  People who have no dependants and live alone have the hardest times, cause there is help, much help out there for parents with children, but not any help for single people. All my children are grown and have children of their own so I didn't qualify for any assistance except for low income housing and food stamps. Not even medical coverage. I know for a fact there is help out there for people with children at your local food stamp office..

Hi, I am a resident in the Atlanta, Georgia area and I know what alot of you are going through. I was fired from my job on something I did not do and because this is an Atwill state they don't care if a reason is given or not, You are just out the door. Since that I haven't worked in 7 months, been on a several interviews and it just seems as if a bad omen is on my name. I have been praying and God has been keeping me. They tried to keep me from getting unemployment as will but God showed them up on that. I had it for 26wks, it is now over, I am praying and you all pray with me that I am able to get extension benefits because otherwise I will be out on the street. Nobody deserves to be going through this but God does not lie and he never puts more on you than you can bare. I don't know how I will make rent which is 755.00 if all fails. I just feel like people who have money should come together to help those less fortunate. I promise you that If I ever come into riches I will not hold on to it. I am going to share my wealth to help others to make and show them the way. We should be standing together and not allowing each other to fall. Is there a college campus where you live? You should put a note up saying that you would like to share an apartment with someone who also has a child or try to keep your apartment and have them move in. You both then can share babysitting responsibilities. Go on campus and put in to be a note taker for someone who has a disability. You take notes for those who cannot and get paid. Put a sign up in a local grocery store and see if there might be some people who need someone to go shopping for them. MotherofAlex

i have called around to every place and agency possible, there is no money in summit county to help anyone. i am cutting corners however but still paying what i can . everyone out there just pray for me and my family as far as the kids x-mas is concerned.

Alyn--I am sorry for your troubles. But with a child, there should be a set of programs to help you. Don't give up--stay brave!

in your county through family services they have a program called title20 it may be called something else in your county. they can assist with child care. or you can call churches in your area that will offer free child care do to low or now income. apply to some temp agencies, or some of them offer positions that pay you day to day to get the money you need if you don't have anyone to help you out.
